Program Admission

Admission decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. We conduct a detailed interview in order to gather a history and develop a clear understanding of the problems necessitating treatment.

Conditions treated within our program include:

  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
  • Anxiety / Panic Disorder
  • Depression
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD)
    (Aspergers, Tourettes, Behavioral Problems)

Some situations may indicate the need for an intensive outpatient treatment program (IOP), such as:

  • Inability to function in typical roles of academia, employment, family and/or other social relationships;
  • Unresponsiveness to other outpatient or inpatient treatments;
  • A need to make significant progress quickly in order to, for example continue in school, stay out of jail, obey court order, avoid employment jeopardy, regain employment, etc;
  • Interpersonal conflict so severe as to cause a breakdown of coping skills.
Program Length

Typical treatment program lengths vary and may range from a few months (3-5) to a year or longer. Some severe mental health conditions may require an intensive outpatient program (IOP), consisting of several months treatment for 4½ hours per day, 3-5 days per week. Maintenance visits typically follow in order to reinforce treatment gains and prevent relapse. Program lengths will differ based on the specific needs of each patient. Success in the program, as well the length of treatment, is affected by many factors including:

  • The length of time the problem has existed and the severity of the problem
  • The patient’s willingness to change
  • The patient’s level of commitment and participation, especially arriving on time and fully attending all sessions
  • The amount of support available from family or significant others that love and care for the patient
  • The strength of the relationships formed with clinic personnel
Program Completion

As treatment progresses, we continually monitor the effectiveness of the various elements of the treatment plan and measure their contribution to the desired changes. We monitor individual progress toward treatment goals on a daily basis and present a weekly summary report to the patient (and family, where appropriate).

Progress is tracked by measuring reduction in self-reported symptoms, objectively observed behavior changes, the patient actions, and quantitative EEG (qEEG). Successful outcomes are more likely when the patient’s commitment to treatment is high and when the family participates in the program. The patient’s program is considered complete when he or she substantially achieves the objectives in the written treatment program.
